Light Spill

The studio I share with ten other artists -- the Artists' Atelier -- in the heart of Great Falls, Virginia offers up some inspiring scenes right outside our doors (or windows). The "scenes" inside are pretty spectacular as well.

"Light Spill" was started plein air on the porch outside the studio. It was unseasonably warm and it seemed everyone in town showed up to buy an ice cream cone, hang out on the benches scattered around the Green, or kick the ball around with family and friends. "Light Spill" gave me the chance to capture the rays of light that beam over the rooftops like light pouring through a cathedral window. (I've painted that as well.)

"Light Spill" was accepted to the Oil Painters of America Salon Show being held at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan between June 22 - September 1, 2018 with a reception on June 22, 6-8pm.
