Bon Appétit

For my 2024 personal painting trip to the South of France, I had a serious case of jet lag for the length of the trip.  Just couldn't get up early enough in the morning to catch many of  those favorite market scenes of mine.  But here's the silver lining.  Instead of capturing the daily market that takes place here in the Place Richelme in Aix-en-Provence, I was treated to the sweet café life that follows it in the afternoon.

I had a whole lot of visitors at my easel -- and took a break during a rainstorm.  One of my visitors was an admiring drunk ... who did offer me a sip.  Definitely passed. 

Enjoyed a neat visit with Silvi who spent some time photographing me at my easel.  There should be a lot of photographs of me at my easel floating around in the South of France. I don't think they were trying to capture my outfit.

This is a big canvas and complicated subject -- so I captured what I could before the light faded and before all my dinner options faded.  It was one of those cases that I saved the finishing for the piece for my studio at home.

I loved the light coming from the pizza shop on the right.  That was the real draw for me to set up in this spot. The umbrellas went up during the rain storm and were a great addition.  Loved this day!

Bon Appétit - framed

My New French Paintings Collection (or own Tour de France) debuted in my studio at the Artists' Atelier in Great Falls VA with 21 new pieces (including this one) from my 2024 personal painting trip to the South of France - Cote d'Azur and Provence -- plus 19 more works from previous trips throughout France.
