The Glow at Day's End

Painted January 29, 2026 during my 31-Day challenge (to paint from life and post each day of the month).

I have painted this particular chair multiple times. It just calls to me.

The day before painting it, I moved a little round table next to it that we just brought home after clearing out my Mom's old apartment. (She's now moved into a cozy new assisted living apartment.) Then I topped the table with my now fading daffodil plant (placed in a prettier ceramic planter also newly inherited).

Kindly the sunset made the house across from us glow through the sheer curtains. And the snow on the ground completed the scene.

It is painted over another piece -- an urban nocturne that didn't cross the finish line. Having that painting below this one was actually a treat. I worked on the light in the window over the cityscape and the painting was almost there in no time. Magic!

See all the days from the 1st on -- on Instagram @jillbanks1 and Facebook @JillBanksStudio.  I'd love it if you'd follow me as well.

And here's another snowy one (see it in the Nocturne Collection) from a couple of days before:
