French Corner won an Award of Excellence and was on exhibit at the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Association (NOAPS) Best of America Exhibition -- taking place at the Beverly McNeil Gallery, 605 28th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama - October 10 - November 9, 2024. See info on its first award at the Phippen Museum show for the Women Artists of the West show below.
In January of the last three years, I've committed to a 31-day challenge to paint from life and post every day of the month. Paintings do not have to be completed each day - but some progress should be made. So, on January 20 & 21, 2023, I painted French Corner of my favorite room in the house -- by far. My goal is/was to make the rest of my house feel just like this. (It has.)
Here, some gorgeous red roses and a fading yellow one are the stars of the show. This is the point that all poinsettias have got to go and others that signal Spring are invited inside instead.
This piece was previously accepted into the 54th National Juried Exhibition "Dreamweavers" of Women Artists of the West. It was included in the exhibit and sale at the Phippen Museum of Western Art in Prescott Arizona and won the Cherry Signature Award for Creativity in that exhibit. My second piece that was in the show, Beauty Pageant, won the Best Signature Award -- the second highest award given.
