Song of the Sunflowers

A piece of mine, Sweet Roses, was accepted into the American Impressionist Society National Exhibit -- being held at the Somerville Manning Gallery in Greenville DE. Getting into this show is a BIG deal -- with in this case, 168 works accepted out of a membership topping 2100 artists.  I wasn't going to let the acceptance go to waste -- even planning my South of France painting trip return to allow me to take part in the opening weekend festivities.

It's been so much fun ... including providing inspiration and some painting time to create four pieces.  This one, Song of the Sunflowers, of the garden at the Brown Horticultural Center at the Winterthur estate was the last of the day.

The painter captured in the garden is Caroline Brown -- who was happy (and surprised) to have made it onto a canvas. The group of artists I've met are so nice. We had the pleasure of painting together at the Brandywine Battlefield with an enactor for Alexander Hamilton. That was earlier today. Too cool.

The photos are not great. I was staying at a hotel room that doesn't appear to believe in light bulbs.
